The first is a dual-density polyester pad that catches large particles, such as hair and other debris. The second carbon-impregnated pad removes bad tastes and odors, making the water tastes great. Between the pads is extra granulated charcoal for long-lasting filtration. Works with Drinkwell’s Original, Platinum, and Big Dog fountains (sold separately), but not the Drinkwell 360.
